Xifeng's broiler industry opens new path to prosperity

Xifeng county in Guiyang, Guizhou province, has expanded its high-standard poultry facilities by 194,000 square meters since 2024. Technologies such as automated feeding, intelligent temperature control, and manure recycling are being adopted more widely, accelerating the broiler industry's transformation toward large-scale, standardized, and smart farming.

More than 100,000 broilers were seen feeding in a temperature-controlled poultry house in Yaozhai village, Jiuzhuang town, Xifeng. Automated equipment ran smoothly, while farmers monitored ammonia levels, temperature, and humidity in real time on their mobile phones, reducing the time and effort required for daily farming while increasing efficiency and income.

After 17 years of development, Xifeng has built a complete broiler industry chain covering breeding, feed production, farming, slaughtering, processing, and sales. In 2025, the county produced more than 15 million commercial broilers. This year, it plans to produce 16 million, with the industry's output value expected to reach 750 million yuan ($111.58 million).

Xifeng has also introduced an innovative "government + enterprises + farmers" model. Enterprises provide chicks, feed, technical guidance, disease prevention, and sales services, helping farmers reduce production and market risks. By the end of 2025, the model had brought more than 400 farming households into the broiler industry, increasing their annual income by over 50,000 yuan on average.
