At the home of Mr Guo in Longteng community, Yongyang sub-district of Xifeng county, senior-friendly facilities such as adaptive chairs, shoe-changing stools, shower chairs, bedside handrails, and non-slip flooring have been installed. These small modifications reflect a major transformation in the county's elderly care services.
In recent years, Xifeng county has stepped up efforts to improve elderly care facilities and services in response to its rapidly aging population.
According to the county's civil affairs bureau, people aged 60 and above now account for 19.09 percent of the county's population. To date, age-friendly home renovations have been completed in 410 households. Three elderly care institutions and seven community elderly care service stations have also been built and put into operation.
The newly established Yushandi Elderly Care Service Station in the county features barrier-free access and age-friendly restrooms designed to better serve senior residents.
The county has also introduced community canteens for the elderly, where seniors can enjoy nutritious and affordable meals while socializing with neighbors.

Through a "publicly built, privately operated" model, Xifeng has brought in professional organizations such as Canci Elderly Care Co to manage services, significantly improving community elderly care standards.
"We organize cultural and sports activities for seniors once a week," said Luo Yingjie, an employee of the company. Every Wednesday, free health checks, including blood sugar and blood pressure testing, are offered in Xinhua community.
