"The chicken is fragrant, spicy, tender and glutinous. Paired with vegetables, it's irresistibly delicious," a tourist said after tasting the dish at the restaurant. Before leaving, the visitor bought some to take home as gifts for family members.

"The popularity of our chicken comes from its unique preparation process," said Cheng Dili, the store manager. From ingredient selection and marination to stir-frying, every step is carefully handled, while precise heat control ensures the chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The dish can be traced back to 1979, when its founder Huang Nanwu set up a street stall on Yanglang Street along the former National Highway 210 to sell his homemade stir-fried spicy chicken. Thanks to its spicy flavor and soft, tender texture, the dish gained a following through word of mouth and soon became widely known.

Thanks to Huang Nanwu's continued promotion, the chicken gradually grew into one of Guizhou's signature delicacies, with more than 20 outlets now operating in Xifeng county alone.

In 2015, Huang Nanwu Chili Chicken Food Co was established. Two years later, the company put into operation a 13,000-square-meter processing facility.

"Now, Huang Nanwu Yanglang stir-fried spicy chicken is not only a well-known local delicacy but also a popular souvenir among tourists," Cheng said. Sold in vacuum-sealed packaging through both online and offline channels, the product has become a strong seller across Guizhou and is now reaching markets nationwide.
