Xifeng's town accelerates industry-city integration

Construction is in full swing at the Guiyang Green Ecological Dyeing Circular Economy Industrial Park in Xiaozhaiba town, Xifeng county, at the height of midsummer.

A new 3.48-kilometer access road, with an investment of 173 million yuan ($24.1 million), is nearing completion and is expected to open by late September. "This road is the industrial park's main artery. It will cut travel time to the town center by more than half," said Lu Xiaofeng, head of the local project coordination team.

The new infrastructure marks a key milestone in Xiaozhaiba's transformation into a modern industrial hub. With 140,000 square meters of standard factory buildings completed, the park welcomed its first enterprise, Guizhou Xinglan Textile Technology Co, in June, achieving a breakthrough in investment attraction.

As industry grows, agriculture also thrives. In Dawan village, 500 mu (33.3 hectares) of corn fields are under full mechanized cultivation with drone-assisted pesticide spraying. "Efficiency has tripled," said Wei Facai, a local official. Farmers receive free seeds, fertilizers, and machinery services for high-yield pilot plots.

In Tianxing village, a 50-mu green-shell egg farm operates under a "village-enterprise" joint operation model. Last year, the farm generated 2.03 million yuan in operating income, with 420,000 yuan in profits going directly to the village collective. "We get monthly salaries and annual dividends, and our livelihood is secure," said a villager named Tang Yangjiang.

Positioned strategically between Guiyang and Zunyi cities, Xiaozhaiba is pioneering a dual-engine growth model of industrial expansion and rural vitalization.

As of 2024, the town hosted 12 large-scale enterprises with industrial output exceeding 7.99 billion yuan, up 40.4 percent year-on-year, and had cultivated 320 agricultural entities, generating 1.56 billion yuan in processing output. With brands like Hongyan grapes and Tianxing green-shell eggs gaining recognition, Xiaozhaiba is emerging as a hub for the coordinated development of agriculture and industry.
