Xifeng county in Guiyang city is unlocking the potential of its summer tourism and residence sector by blending its core assets – red tourism, hot springs, rural charm, and ecological resources – into a diversified and immersive destination model.
Through rural housing renovations, 298 countryside homes have been transformed into short-stay lodging options, breathing new life into idle village assets. Visitors can engage in immersive historical experiences at memorials or enjoy wellness packages that combine hot springs with traditional Chinese medicine. Rural stays offer hands-on experiences in farming, tea-making, and the local culture, providing an authentic glimpse into countryside lifestyles.
Local homestay operators have also formed an association to help redirect tourist flow during peak times. A dedicated WeChat applet now allows real-time booking and tourist profiling to streamline travel planning.
To ensure quality service, over 200 staff members have completed intensive training, with safety drills and service standards implemented across the sector. Industry standards covering hygiene, food safety, and service benchmarks have been introduced to enhance visitor comfort.
Marketing efforts are also in full swing, with red tourism routes connecting key revolutionary sites to nature and culture-based experiences. This summer, 46 themed events are planned, ranging from outdoor races and folk performances to hands-on agricultural fun and family-friendly circus shows, designed to deliver a refreshing and well-rounded visitor experience.
