Xifeng enhances rural vitalization through livability, local industry

Xifeng county in Guiyang is making strides in rural vitalization, with three local areas – Wenquan town, Maodong village, and Pingshang village in Yongjing town – recognized as National Civilized Villages and Towns.

In recent years, the county has prioritized improving rural living conditions and promoting sustainable development. The county has cleared over 300 illegal dumps, renovated more than 1,100 toilets, and ensured 100 percent waste collection coverage in all major villages.

Towns like Shidong have adopted innovative co-governance models that integrate environmental upgrades with tourism and agriculture. Qianfeng village, known for vegetable farming, is now also attracting summer tourists, with 17 households developing rural homestays.

Wenquan town had upgraded 94 toilets and cleared over 100 waste sites, significantly boosting residents' quality of life in 2024.

Yongjing town has mobilized over 8,000 residents for environmental initiatives, while supporting infrastructure projects such as sewage upgrades and waste sorting stations. Local tourism is also on the rise, with villagers turning family homes into guesthouses.
