Xifeng county has launched key infrastructure initiatives – including an urban waterlogging mitigation project and a major sewage pipeline upgrade – to enhance the city's drainage capacity, ensure public safety, and improve residents' quality of life.

The waterlogging mitigation project involves a planned investment of 69 million yuan ($9.6 million) to build and upgrade 13.5 kilometers of stormwater pipelines. The project also includes the installation of 350 inspection wells and 700 storm drain grates. As of May 27, 7.63 kilometers of pipeline had been excavated, marking 58 percent of the project’s overall completion.

Meanwhile, the urban sewage pipeline renovation project, covering both the county seat and Xiaozhaiba town, has a planned total investment of 123 million yuan and involves the reconstruction of 86.7 kilometers of sewage pipelines.

"Once completed, this project will significantly enhance Xifeng's sewage collection and treatment capacity, effectively addressing the issue of rain-sewage mixing and increasing the centralized collection rate of domestic sewage by 20 percent," said an official from the Xifeng water management bureau. As of May 27, 20.2 kilometers of pipeline had been installed, with the overall project progress reaching 50 percent.
