Xifeng county hosts Dragon Boat Festival cultural event

Xifeng county launched its Dragon Boat Festival cultural event at the People's Square of Xiaozhaiba town on May 28.

The event began at 2:30 pm with a powerful drum performance, setting an energetic tone. Singer Li Lingyu followed with a heartfelt rendition of Year After Year on Dragon Boat Day, while a dance team presented a costume show titled Soul of the Miao Village, blending ethnic tradition with stage art.

After the performances, attention shifted to a hands-on folk activity, which offered villagers the chance to make zongzi (rice dumplings), herbal sachets, and decorative wind chimes. The scent of mugwort filled the air as children played with their handmade crafts and elders shared stories about Dragon Boat customs.

Nearby, staff members of the county people's government's civilization office encouraged community participation in building clean, safe, and civilized villages.

This event combined traditional arts with cultural heritage and civic education, deepening public appreciation for Chinese traditions while fostering collective efforts toward rural development.
