In the first half of 2024, Xifeng county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, focused on improving livelihoods and enhancing public services, leading to stable growth in the per capita disposable income for both urban and rural residents. The growth rate for rural residents ranked first in Guiyang.

From January to June, the per capita disposable income for urban residents reached 26,301 yuan ($3,684.77), up by 4.6 percent, while for rural residents, it reached 10,194 yuan, up by 7.5 percent.

To increase the per capita disposable income of rural residents, Xifeng has been making every effort to develop various industries. The county established a 9,200-mu (613.33-hectare) vegetable supply demonstration base, driving the county's annual vegetable output to 525,000 metric tons.

Continuous efforts are being made in orchard management, pest control and quality improvement, with the output of 6,400 mu of orchards raised to 119,000 tons of fruits. Infrastructure for pig farming, poultry and ecological fisheries is being developed with strengthened policy and technical guidance, boosting the productivity and efficiency of livestock farming.

The county is also cultivating market entities such as family farms and large-scale growers, supporting farmers in developing specialty farming, agricultural product processing, socialized services, and the management of family farms and ranches, while also promoting the development of forestry and under-forest economy. Additionally, the county is advancing rural reforms by repurposing idle homesteads and rural houses, thereby increasing rural residents' property income.

To increase the per capita disposable income of urban residents, Xifeng is establishing recruitment platforms, organizing job fairs, and publicizing job opportunities to connect employers with job seekers.

The county regularly compiles employment opportunities both locally and outside the county, sharing them through online postings and WeChat groups.

Additionally, the county mobilizes personnel to raise awareness of relevant policies and programs. Focusing on market demands, the county also frequently conducts practical vocational skills training sessions to improve workers' competitiveness in the job market.
