In the first three quarters, most economic indicators in Xifeng county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recorded growth rates higher than the average levels for both the province and the city. The majority of economic indicators ranked within the top five in the city, with the core indicator, GDP growth rate, securing second place citywide.
From January to September, the county's GDP grew by 8.3 percent year-on-year, accelerating by 3 percentage points compared to the first half of the year. Among the 10 key economic indicators, seven recorded growth rates ranking in the top three in the city, with three of them – investment, per capita disposable income of rural residents, and total output value of the construction industry – holding the top spot citywide. Major indicators saw an improvement in rankings.
The output value of its large-scale industries reached 6.93 billion yuan ($967,567.6), a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent. Tourism attractions like Nanshan Tianmu Hot Springs and Nanshan Brick World Themed Park have started operating, receiving 6.27 million visits, a year-on-year increase of 23.8 percent.
During this period, Xifeng has closely focused on industries, with new industrialization as its primary focus. The county has targeted key industries such as the phosphorus chemical industry, health and pharmaceutical industry, new energy battery materials industry, and coordinated industries involving phosphogypsum and new building materials.
Efforts have been made to achieve breakthroughs in key areas of new industrialization, accelerate progress on key projects, and drive the overall advancement of new urbanization, modernization of agriculture, and industrialization of tourism.
