A total of 10 Guiyang villages were recently assessed as zero waste villages, including Maodong village in Xifeng county.
"Zero Waste Villages" are villages that are guided by the new development concepts of innovation, coordination, green development, openness, and shared growth, practice sustainable development and production and adhere to a green lifestyle.
The villages must take measures to reduce the generation of solid waste at the source, promoting the recycling and harmless disposal of resources, minimizing landfill, and mitigating the environmental impact of solid waste.
The evaluation index for "Zero Waste Villages" in Guiyang consists of several primary indicators, including waste-free production, waste-free lifestyle, and waste-free culture, which are further subdivided into twelve secondary indicators. Recognition, media coverage, and distinctive highlights are also considered.
