Rice variety 'draft' held in Xifeng

The Guiyang High-Quality Rice Variety Selection and Rice Taste Appreciation Event was recently held in Luwo village of Xishan town, Xifeng county, with the aim of cultivating excellent seeds and safeguarding food security.

At the tasting event, 26 participating rice varieties underwent strict evaluation procedures, including milling, steaming, and simmering. The panel of judges, composed of professional judges and public participants, evaluated each variety based on its aroma, appearance and structure, palatability, taste, and texture. Scores were assigned, and considering the field performance and yield data from earlier stages, the "seed champions" were ultimately selected.

All 26 high-quality rice varieties were openly solicited from the public and have received national or provincial cultivation approval.

The event not only provided an opportunity for seed industry enterprises to "taste and select seeds", but also gave grassroots agricultural personnel and large-scale planters a more intuitive understanding of the advantages and characteristics of rice varieties.

Simultaneously, it served as a source of support for rice seeding and selection, the promotion and application of high-quality rice varieties, and the advancement of the rice industry towards high quality and brand development, supporting rural vitalization.
