Xifeng's village awash with scent of oranges

The jelly orange from Xingfu village in Xifeng county has ripened in recent days, bringing the village golden hues and a sweet smell.

Zhang Ya, the person in charge of the orange orchard in the village, said that she started fruit planting in 2013. In 2019, after years of learning, she introduced the No 28 Ehime jelly orange planting.

In recent years, during busy seasons such as fertilizing and harvesting, she has been enlisting the help of neighboring villagers. Since the beginning of this year, she has paid a total of over 135,000 yuan ($18,454.5) in land transfer fees and labor wages, which has facilitated the joint development of planting with five neighboring households.

So far, Xingfu village has planted 65 mu (4.33 hectares) of jelly oranges with an expected production of over 25,000 kilograms.
