Xiaozhaiba town celebrates Double Ninth Festival

In celebration of the Double Ninth Festival, volunteers from Xiaozhaiba town in Xifeng county held a tea party, with 14 elderly residents taking part.

The Double Ninth Festival is a traditional Chinese festival which takes place on the ninth day of the ninth month in the lunar calendar. In 2023, it fell on Oct 23. People celebrate by spending time with their elderly family members, showing them love and appreciation.

During the event, volunteers and the elderly were engaged in conversations about poems and images related to the Double Ninth Festival. The volunteers not only introduced the traditional customs of the Double Ninth Festival but also explained the chapters on the law on the protection of the rights and interests of the elderly.

They also distributed pamphlets on road traffic safety and fire safety, using simple language to disseminate knowledge on home fire prevention, safe electricity usage, and prevention of autumn and winter illnesses.

Xiaozhaiba town has been making efforts to care for the local elderly. Since the beginning of this year, the town has organized three free charitable medical consultations, providing health check-up services for the elderly.

The town has also conducted legal advisory services, safety awareness campaigns, and other activities for the elderly on more than 80 occasions.
