Xifeng inks new Chinese medical herbs project

The signing ceremony for a Chinese-medicinal-herb-planting project between the People's Government of Liuchang town in Xifeng county and Guizhou Dayu Fengtai Chinese Medicinal Herbs Planting Co took place on Aug 29.

The signing holds great significance for the town's industrial development and is expected to expand the collective's economy and increase local incomes.

At the signing ceremony, the two sides held a discussion and agreed on the preliminary work, cooperation methods, and cooperation benefits of the project.

The total investment in the project is planned to be 3-10 million yuan ($412,500). Through the model of "enterprises + scientific research institutes + farmers", 300 mu (20 hectares) of land will be transferred to build a large-scale, standardized and intensive industrial base for planting Chinese medicinal herbs.

Meanwhile, a newly-added processing and production workshop of 3,000-4,000 square meters is expected to have an annual output value of 2.2 million yuan after it sets up operation, increasing the village collective's income by 500,000 yuan and creating 40 new jobs.

The Chinese medicinal herb industry is another newly-introduced ecological agricultural industry following the edible fungi industry. Moving forward, efforts by the town will be made to provide support and services for the project.
