In recent years, watermelon growing has proved to be a fruitful endeavor for Liuchang town in Xifeng county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Liuchang town is located in the low-heat river valley zone along the Wujiang River. With a mild climate and abundant heat and moisture, it has a unique ecological environment and ideal climate for growing watermelon and other sweet and delicious fruits.
So far, the town has planted over 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares) of watermelons, the main varieties of which include "Quanfu No 10, Bingtang Tianmei, Rongyao, Jubao". The yield per mu is 2,000 to 2,500 kilograms, with an expected output value of 9 million yuan ($1.26 million).

In addition to the watermelon industry, Liuchang town has also developed characteristic industries around Qianben pears, Changchong grapes, and Baorun citrus, and has designated the mushroom processing industry as a key area of investment.
At the same time, the town is vigorously promoting the integrated development of the "tourism +" industry and has created a new integrated development model focusing on the agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries, combining leisure, camping, and agricultural experience.
