In recent years, the Guiyang vegetable supply base in Xifeng county of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has introduced an intelligent agricultural management system to boost local agricultural development.

Dubbed the "Greenhouse Housekeeper", the system integrates water and fertilizer equipment, and is also responsible for roll film automation, pump control, security and an anti-theft system.

Through an associated mobile phone app, workers can also remotely control watering and fertilization, and adjust the temperature, humidity and light in the greenhouses in a timely manner to ensure the crops continually benefit from the best growing conditions.

The intelligent system has not only lowered the base's management costs but also improved its economic benefits. It is expected to increase the yield of vegetables by 1,000 to 1,500 kilograms per mu (0.07hectare), adding at least 1 million yuan ($140,700) to the base's income every year.

Covering a planned area of over 4,000 mu, the base has an annual vegetable yield of around 9,000 metric tons, mainly supplying Guiyang. All greenhouses in the base are now managed by this intelligent agricultural management system. As a result, the base has benefited 6,456 people in 1,593 households.

Moving forward, Xifeng will continue leveraging big data to advance its development in the vegetable industry, benefiting more local people and increasing their incomes.
