County ratchets up efforts to improve legal environment

In order to turn Guiyang into a law-based government demonstration city, Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been carrying out work in multiple areas to integrate legal bases, requirements and responsibilities into all decision-making, management, and law implementation procedures.

Authorities have cancelled requirements for 180 certification items in public services and have categorized 122 service windows into nine comprehensive service areas. These windows are now able to handle all kinds of government processes involving the government departments of market supervision and regulation, taxation, public security, human resources and social insurance.

Xifeng is also constantly improving its social dispute mediation mechanism. The county's civil and commercial mediation committee has resolved 665 of 806 total submitted cases.

In addition, legal knowledge has been promoted in villages and campuses, helping residents, especially the younger generation, develop proper values for family and marriage.
