More locals benefit from 15-minute sports life circles

Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has initiated 12 15-minute sports life circle projects, which give residents access to fitness facilities within a 15-minute walk from their home. The government will build multi-purpose playgrounds, health trails, and smart physical exercise stations, as well as put a variety of professional fitness and recreational facilities in place.

Seven out of 12 such projects have been completed, with the remaining five to be complete at the end of September this year, said an official from the county's bureau of culture and tourism. In addition, physical training sessions on taekwondo, tai chi, and square dancing will also be arranged to improve people's health.

From 2021 to 2023, Xifeng plans to implement 21 public sports service and equipment projects, and playgrounds at 10 local schools will open to the public.
