A project to build a major liquid electrolytes plant – being funded by owner and operator Guizhou Hangsheng Lithium Energy Technology Co – was officially launched on Feb 14 in Xifeng county, administered by Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Liquid electrolytes are one of four main materials used in lithium battery manufacturing and the project is understood to be the first of its kind in the province.

The first phase of the project is to be based in Xiaozhaiba town in the county and will be responsible for the research and manufacturing of the liquid electrolytes, with a total investment of 3.8 billion yuan ($599.26 million). On completion, its production capacity will be 30,000 metric tons of liquid electrolytes per annum, generating an output value of 2 billion yuan.

Guizhou Hangsheng Lithium Energy Technology Co was founded and headquartered in Xifeng county last year, as a high-tech company that provides liquid electrolytes and silicon-carbon anode materials. It has developed branches in Hunan, Shandong and other places of Guizhou.

"We established our headquarters in Xifeng county because it not only has the resources we need, but also offers the best policy incentives and services for the project, which gave us great confidence we would prosper there," said Huang Jihong, president and founder of the company.
