Xifeng opens large-scale job fair

Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a large-scale job fair that invited the participation of more than 50 companies on Feb 13. The fair reportedly offers over 7,000 positions wanted for locals, including salespeople and administrative staffs.

Many job seekers arrived at the fair in advance to find positions that were in line with their career plans. Consultation sites in the employers' stands were filled with residents wanting to know whether they were suitable.

In addition to many local companies, corporations based outside Guizhou province also sought to recruit at the fair.

"Our company is from Xiangshan county in Ningbo city and this time we want to recruit some talent to fit our vocational positions, as well as some comprehensive talent," said Weng Lingling, manager of the administration department of Ningbo Tianan Smart Grid Technology Co.

In recent years, many Guizhou workers have chosen to work in Xiangshan county and their diligence is said to have impressed employers there.

"I used to work for security services outside Guizhou. The positions offered at the fair are well-paid and are in line with what I am capable of. I hope to find a suitable job in the place where I was born," said a 43-year-old job seeker surnamed Chen.

Statistics showed that by 3pm on the day, more than 800 people had found potential positions.

Moving forwards, plans are for Xifeng county to continue to combine on-site and online channels, to offer related services to boost local employment and entrepreneurship.
