"It just takes just three minutes to register, take photos, and upload other information to the platform," said Yuan Bangxi, a villager in Xifeng county, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, referring to the newly-launched animal disease prevention information management platform.
The platform has reportedly cut the amount of work and materials required to collect and register information. It has also made it more convenient for government officials supervising the work of veterinary doctors, with the number of vets needed in Xifeng cut from 160 to 87. The number of animals passing standard immunity tests has also risen by more than 10 percent.
"Inoculations used to involve many paper documents. It would take us hours to complete all the procedures if we had a large number of animals to get through. Now we fill in the table with all the required information and then upload the data to the system. We no longer need to worry about losing our records, and we can access everything on our cell phones," said Yuan.
All the administrative regions of Xifeng are available on the platform, which is now being used in 15 other counties across the province.
