Xifeng's Xishan town in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made plans to boost the local "flower economy", which combines flower appreciation, picking, and sales.

The town will plant 240 mu (16 hectares) of roses, 350 mu of Yulan magnolia, and raise its plant nurturing levels based upon existing industrial foundations. The total area of its local "flower sea" will be expanded by more than 50 mu, and will be further classified into smaller sections in terms of the flower species planted there.

To upgrade the region's flower sector, the government will reallocate development resources and boost the sharing economy. More investors will be introduced to the town to invest in infrastructure at tourist sites, including public toilets, sightseeing pavilions, benches, road works and tourist service centers.

An estimate of 2.1 million yuan ($315,000) will be spent on beautifying the residences surrounding the "flower sea", and more than 4 million yuan in investments from Henan province will be used to plant flowers.
