Xifeng county -- in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has achieved full coverage of 5G networks in its urban areas, according to local officials.

Since this year, the Xifeng branch of China Mobile Communications Group has increased its investment in the rollout of 5G and promoted the construction of 5G networks, while providing communications services and undertaking epidemic prevention and control measures, officials said.

As of June this year, the company had invested a total of more than 10 million yuan ($1.43 million) to lay 180 kilometers of optical cable and build 26 base stations.

Mobile users now only need to purchase 5G phones to experience 5G services, without changing their phone numbers, SIM cards and registration.

According to test, the average download speed for 4G mobile phones in China is about 27-33 Mbps (megabits per second), while  the theoretical peak for a 5G mobile phone is about 930 Mbps. The low latency, high speed and big connections of 5G networks will make life and work easier and enterprises more efficient, local officials said.

Meanwhile, the development of various new equipment and the use of smart scenarios can help promote the smart management of cities, communities and education, to improve people's standard of living, officials said.

Additionally, Xifeng plans to build and open 50 base stations in the second half of the year, to achieve 5G outdoor coverage in the surrounding areas.
