Recently, Xifeng county -- located in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- carried out a series of measures to focus on the upgrading of its consumption, with consumers spending more on higher quality goods and services, according to local officials.

They said the county has introduced a large number of discounts for attractions tickets, experience projects, as well as accommodation and catering, to promote the growth of spending on tourism.

During the May Day holiday on May 1 to 5, Xifeng received a total of 643,000 tourists, bringing in income of 130 million yuan ($18.21 million) from the sector.

Meanwhile, Xifeng has also actively worked with companies, village collectives and farmers to join forces with supermarkets, to open up and expand agricultural product sales channels.

From January to March, the county completed orders for 633.93 tons agricultural products, worth 9.75 million yuan.

In addition, the county has integrated various resources -- including cooperatives, e-commerce service companies and distribution companies -- to enable more high-quality products to enter the market.

Currently, the county is home to 78 enterprises and individual businesses engaged in e-commerce. It has opened 280 online stores on third-party platforms such as JD, Suning and Taobao and it reached online retail sales of more than 31 million yuan for the period from January to April.

Moreover, the county has actively organized large supermarkets to build an online sales platform, which included 107 production and operations and purchasing companies.
