Xifeng county -- located in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has taken a series of measures to promote the stewardship and passing on to future generations and development of ethnic culture, according to local officials.
Xifeng has actively carried out the identification and preservation and construction of villages with ethnic minority characteristics and last year declared four villages with ethnic minority characteristics. One of them, Dahong village, was included on a list of the fourth batch of villages with ethnic minority characteristics in Guizhou province.
Meanwhile, Xifeng county has actively organized traditional ethnic festivals to create cultural brands for ethnic minorities.
The county held several traditional ethnic festivals in 2019. With cultural performances, skills demonstrations and special food tastings, the county received nearly 30,000 tourists from inside and outside the province, effectively created a cultural brand for the Miao ethnic group and furtherly promoted cultural exchanges among ethnic groups.
Moreover, Xifeng county has been developing ethnic cultures on school campuses and among communities. Since 2019, the county has carried out ethnic culture teaching in its schools.
Additionally, Xifeng has carried out a general survey of ancient national books, tapped the value of national cultural heritage and scientific research and provided a reference for promoting the development of national culture, officials said.
