Xifeng county pupils head back to school

Updated: 2020-03-19

Xifeng county -- in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has set up a school-based working group to comprehensively handle the commencement of the school spring semester, according to local officials.

Fifteen schools resumed classes in Xifeng county on March 16, with more than 5,000 students and teachers returning to the 12th-grade and ninth-grade, officials said.

The county has organized 15 working groups to guide school's epidemic prevention and control work.

They will train staff on emergency treatment procedures for epidemic situations, disinfection operation specifications, materials reserve standards, student dormitory management and setting up temporary isolation.

Teachers and students in Xifeng need to stay at their homes for 14 days of medical observation before going back to class.

Officials said returning faculty and staff need to get nucleic acid tests for the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

As of Mar 10, Xifeng had completed the inspection of relevant personnel.

Officials said it distributed protective materials to the schools, including medical masks, forehead thermometers, disposable isolation suits, tents for isolated observation points and disinfection supplies.
