Updated: 2019-12-20

Southwest China's Xifeng county has made great efforts to promote its rural e-commerce development and built a fast and low-cost logistics system, according to local officials.

They said the county has collected 10 million yuan ($1.4 million) in funding for the construction of the rural logistics infrastructure. Meanwhile, the county has built a logistics delivery system covering counties, townships and villages.

Local logistics companies have changed their working model from separate deliveries to unified distribution and sorting.

Xifeng county has also used 155 buses to help with the transportation of goods. At present, it takes no more than two days for a parcel express to be delivered from downtown area to a village.

Moreover, the express delivery cost for a parcel express from a village to the county has been reduced by an average of 40 percent.

Officials said the express delivery volume in Xifeng has increased from 11,000 parcels per day at the start of the year to 16,000 parcels daily in November.

The county now has 171 rural online e-commerce stores, promoting online sales for local agricultural products including kiwi fruit, pepper and grape.
